We swing shields

Rough edge meets

Fingers bleed

Eyes peel skin


Body coiled, and made ready

to change feet and find steady


Breath sucked still

Now hands tensed

Bend towards,

the coming –



A poem using #thedirtythirty prompt for Day 4: Symmetrical poem (same number of syllables in each stanza) with a rhyming couplet in the middle about Starting Over.

Inspired by the weekly Historical European Martial Arts class (sword fighting) I attend every week with Adelaide Sword Academy.
