The ‘official’ bio:
Alysha is a proud parent, writer, theatre maker and cultural producer working across disciplines in the arts, community development, social justice and social enterprise. Alysha is especially passionate about regional communities and supporting the amazing ideas of young people.
Alysha has conversations with people who don’t think they are creative and then uses her skills as a writer, theatre maker and cultural producer to turn those conversations into different kinds of artistic ‘things’. Theatre. Installations. Poetry. Words. Experiments. Experiences. Moments. Alysha has won numerous awards for her work using the arts to interrogate and explore community concerns and aspirations including most recently the 2015 Australia Council Kirk Robson Award, 2014 Channel 9 Young Achiever Arts Award and was named by SA Life as one of SA’s fastest rising stars under 30.
Along the path less travelled, Alysha has been a high school drop out, teenage mum, single parent, waitress, sewing machinist, blogger, dishwasher, community facilitator, speaker and many other things in between.
Alysha was the 2011 South Australian Young Citizen of the Year and is currently completing a Teaching/Arts degree externally in her spare time.
She also tweets mini poems as @lylyee and blogs about creative life at https://alyshaherrmann.wordpress.com and is the current Creative Producer of Carclew’s ExpressWay Arts. ExpressWay Arts is an initiative of Carclew jointly delivered with the City of Onkaparinga.
